Mark Rutherford Upper School. This will enable the best use of the expertise
and resources that are within the schools.
In
July Years 6, 7, and 8 will transfer to Mark Rutherford. Year 5 will be
joined by Year 4 on the Woodside site with Mrs. Peck (Putnoe Lower School)
as headteacher of The Putnoe School. To find out more about Putnoe

The Governing Body Until
April 2011 Woodside Middle School will have an acting governing body,
helping to oversee the school changes. Below is some information on
the governing body, which you may find helpful. What
is the role of the Governing Body?
The Governing body assist the school and headteacher in making important
decisions on school funding, staffing issues and in general, the future of
the School.
How is the Governing Body selected?
The Governing body is made up of a range of different people with a variety
of skills and professions. Governors are appointed in various different
ways. The 'LEA' Governors are appointed by the Local Education Authority,
'Co-Opted' Governors are appointed by the school, and have experience of the
business sector, a number of 'Parent' Governors should also be appointed, as
well as a Teaching Representative and a Staff Representative. Finally, each
Governing Body requires an 'Ex-Officio'; namely the head.
What are the advantages of having a Governing Body?
When making important decisions that involve a large amount of resource
investment, or decisions which affect a number of people, it is useful to
include the opinions and questions from a variety of people, each with
different area of expertise (such as Central Government). This helps to
ensure that the decision made is the correct one for all concerned. If
you have any questions or concerns on the above information, please send an
email to the address at the top of this page.
